Once you are sitting on the bench, adjust it to make sure your upper body is properly supported and there is no pressure on your knees or ankles. A rolled towel works well to support tight ankles without affecting the position of the bench. Though this bench tends to be more comfortable for the legs, you may need to make adjustments for tight ankles. Just like with a regular bench, you may want to consider using a cushion or a mat to provide a softer surface for your legs and ankles. The other is to slide your body onto the bench with your leg moving underneath it (this is demonstrated at 4:20 in the video below). To sit on the bench, there are two options: first is to start in a kneeling position and then raise your bottom up and slide the bench between your legs and under you. This biggest difference is that your legs will rest on the outside of the bench, allowing for more freedom of movement and making it easier to get in and out of the kneeling position. Using these benches is very similar to a regular bench with a few adjustments. These are perfect for people who are taller or feel confined by a regular style meditation bench. Here is a video you can watch for a physical demonstration of how to use a meditation bench:Ī Pi style meditation bench features a leg or two legs toward the center of the bench instead of on the outside of the bench. You should make sure there is no discomfort in the legs and ankles, and your spine should be straight. You may need to experiment until you get the right height and angle. You can also use blankets to increase or decrease the height of the bench. If you bench has curved feet, you should be able to adjust the angle of the bench until your body is properly supported. If the bench is too low, it may put pressure on your ankles. If you use a bench that is too high, it will put too much weight on your knees, which will quickly become uncomfortable. Make sure to adjust the bench to get the perfect height and angle for sitting. Another option is to roll a towel and place it under the ankles. If your ankles are not flexible enough to lay flat on the floor, use a blanket or cushion to support your legs and let your feet hang over the edge for more comfort. Your weight should be supported by the bench, your ankles should be flat against the floor underneath the bench, between the two bench legs. You may need to adjust the bench forward or backward, or the tilt of the bench until you can find a comfortable angle to sit. Once you are kneeling, lift your bottom off of your ankles and slide the bench under your sit bone. (If because of physical limitations you cannot kneel, you should consider using a chair to meditate.) I recommend kneeling either on a rug, a folded blanket, a zabuton cushion, or a pillow to protect your legs and knees from the floor. Kneeling with a Meditation Benchįirst, you will want to get into a kneeling position on the floor. We will cover how to use multiple styles of meditation benches. As a result, you should be able to kneel and meditate for longer without any discomfort or pain. When you are sitting on your bench correctly, you should feel completely comfortable, especially in the legs and knees. It also protects your ankles, which will rest without pressure underneath the bench. Sitting your bottom on the bench helps align your spine correctly while absorbing the weight of your upper body. The purpose of a meditation bench is to assist you when meditating in a kneeling position. You want to make sure to use a bench properly to ensure proper alignment of the back and also to make sure your legs and ankles are comfortable. When you first decide to use a bench as a part of your daily meditation practice, it can be tricky to figure out what is the best way to use it.

Your video's aspect ratio should reflect both its intended audience and its matter. Vimeo is adaptable to various frame rates, including 16:9, 4:3, and 1:1. Keep the correct aspect ratio in mind while uploading videos to Vimeo. This is typically the frame rate used for videos since it provides a fluid experience while minimizing data usage. Videos should be published at 30 frames per second minimum, but Vimeo supports frame rates from 24 to 60. Videos should typically have a resolution of 720p or 1080p. Vimeo is compatible with video resolutions between 240p and 8K. For the greatest viewing experience, post videos in high definition. It's important to think about video quality and frame rate in addition to audio and video codecs. The AAC audio codec helps keep video files small by delivering high-quality sound at a low bit rate. The H.264 codec is an extremely efficient and high-quality option for video compression. It is suggested that the H.264 video and AAC audio codecs be used for posting videos to Vimeo. Vimeo's use of adaptive streaming technology ensures that videos are always shown in the highest quality for each user, regardless of their connection speed. The ease with which quality may be preserved during compression is largely responsible for its popularity. The MP4 digital multimedia container format allows for the transfer and playback of audio and video on numerous portable media players. Some file formats work better than others with Vimeo, and not all of them are created equal. These include MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, and 3GP. This era in my life was when it became clear to me that I was meant to create stories that moved people mentally and physically. Morrison, and most importantly, my idol – Zane. There was never a moment I didn’t have a book in my hand after that from authors in the Urban Lit/Black Romance category: Terri Woods, Eric Jerome Dickey, Omar Tyree, Mary B. LIFE! I couldn’t believe books could be so good lol. It was at that age, I was introduced to Sistah Souljah’s The Coldest Winter Ever. I also had a thing for Mafia centered books… don’t ask LOL.īy the age of 13, I had over 50 poems, 15 songs, and several short stories that I had written. At first, I was sure my genre was going to be in the style of everything Harlem Renaissance: Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, Claude McKay, and poet Anne Spencer, I couldn’t get enough of them (and to this day Harlem is STILL my favorite poem). I wanted to read everything and anything I could, especially if written by a black author. Stein’s Fear Street Series (as I have always loved reading suspense and thrillers, even at an early age), but it was in my high school years when I first read Native Son and Black Boy by Richard Wright that I started to really understand the importance of the Black voice in literature. It started off with Babysitters’ Club and moved up to R.L. I have always been in love with books and reading. so I thought.įrom the moment I was able to pick up a pen, my imagination had allowed me to put thoughts on paper to try to give the world a chance to see what I was seeing. As a kid from the Eastside of Detroit, none of these options seemed feasible to most, and I knew I could do any of them, but being a journalist, a writer, anything dealing with telling stories, I knew that would be the easiest and most fun for me to attain. I had the spirit for the stage, the orator skills for the courtroom and the ability to tell stories for a career in media. There were only 3 things in my future as a child, I was either going to be an actress, a lawyer, or a journalist. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far. Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicki Charest. One of the more popular attractions inside the research pavilion is the incubator with eggs and newly hatched chicks. Kids can take part in different activities inside the EcoStation, like leaf rubbing or looking at specimens under a microscope. As we walked around this nature focused research pavilion, we spotted red and blue colored dragon flies and kept our eyes open for red-eared slider turtles in the pond. However, the gardeners have been hard at work, and the EcoStation has been revamped with lots of new native plants and animals that thrive together in their own little ecosystem. Older kids (and adults!) are likely to appreciate the interesting cultural tidbits woven into each display.Īfter the hard freeze that hit Houston this past winter, much of the outdoor landscaping at the EcoStation did not survive. Younger kids can enjoy exploring all the well designed and colorful exhibits and interacting with the different spaces. The kids even had a chance to practice their Korean writing with paintbrushes and water while in the "classroom." My kids were really interested in watching a short video reel showing how Korean kids navigate the lunchroom at their schools. In Primary School, kids learn how certain aspects of Korean schools compare with their own. For example, do you know where utensils go after your meal? You'll have to pull out the answer key to find out! On the dining table is a display that teaches about Korean table manners. My kids loved inspecting all the life-like dishes of food at an outdoor eatery, examining the snacks and home-cooked meals found in a Korean family’s kitchen, and listening to folktales told on the living room TV inside the replica of the modern high-rise apartment home. Kids can show off their own moves on the make-believe stage while watching K-Pop bands, like BTS, perform on the big screen. The KPop Stars Studio offers a fun peek into the K-Pop world. Whether you’re a K-Pop fan or not, this exhibit gives everyone the chance to explore and learn about Korean traditions as well as daily life in modern South Korea. This season, discover all things Korean in the Cultural Gallery! Ever since my third grader has caught on to music from K-Pop band BTS, she’s been intrigued by Korean culture. My younger child’s favorite part was looking into a video camera, getting his eye scanned, and then seeing the image beamed up on to the big screen while learning about the different parts of the eye.ĭo you have what it takes to be a K Pop star? These toxic solvent vapors are released throughout the printing manufacturing areas and cause skin and eye irritations to factory operators. Moreover, according to US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), every textile printing line of the textile mills emits annually an average VOC (volatile organic compound) of approximately 14.3 tons for roller and 32 tons for flat and rotary screens. These toxic chemicals pollute water sources when they are drained, often untreated. For instance, after each printing, approximately 1.5 gallons of printing paste remains in the printing screen, and equipment that must be cleaned with solvents (such as toluene, xylene, and methanol) which uses a great amount of water and electricity. 0.26 million liters of water to dye 8,000 kg of fabric every day this means each kilogram of fabric consumes about 30–50 L of water.Īpart from dyeing, traditional textile printing methods contain many non-eco-friendly aspects. Presently, the textile mills conduct approximately 3,600 types of textile dyeing procedures using over 8,000 chemicals. Additionally, dyeing consumes the largest amount of water in garment manufacturing processes. Over 40 % of dyeing colorants include a carcinogenic material-bound chlorine, and mordants (color fixer), such as chromium. About 2,000–3,000 ppm of salt concentrations are found in most cotton fabric production wastewater that significantly exceeds the federal limit of 230 ppm.ĭyeing processes necessitate the use of multiple toxic chemicals (e.g., heavy metals, pigments, ammonia, and alkali salts). Despite these benefits, the textile mercerization creates negative environmental impacts because of the use of high concentration of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). To bestow fabrics with multiple benefits like enhanced luster, improved moisture absorption (by 7.5–8.5 %), wet resistance, lint reduction, and dyeing methods capable of creating brighter and deeper colors cellulosic fibers (e.g., cotton, hemp, and linen) can be mercerized after weaving. Figure 1: Characteristics of Wastewater from Different Wet Processes The textile industry is responsible for about 17–20% of industrial water pollution. Water is used to rinse or remove unwanted chemicals out of the fabric and as a chemical carrier to the fiber. Textile wet processing industries are completely relying on fresh, soft water for pretreatment, coloration and finishing of textiles. According to physical characteristics, textile waste can be classified into two main groups, which are wastewater and solid waste.Ĭharacterization of Wet Processing Wastewater This enlargement is leaving pollution footprints and potential environmental problems and hazards in each step of textile life cycle. The global textile and apparel market is expected to grow at a compound average annual growth rate of 3.7% and to exceed 100 million tons by 2025. The textile industry is one of the largest industries in the world. Dumping the solid wastes is extremely risky and its thoughtless disposal can cause serious land and air pollution which can be detrimental to human health and environment. Because of these, the chemical-intensive textile and clothing industry which is already among the most polluting industries, has been gaining critical concerns regarding the disposal of textile wastes around the globe. Also, the fast fashion trends have led to overconsumption. Then the finished product can be pumped to the finished product tank and sent to the warehouse.Increasing global population and elevated living standards have resulted in more demand and consumption of textiles to fulfill one of the basic human needs. The solution is pumped to the filter press for filtering to get the clarified liquid product. The sodium silicate solution is obtainedafter the reaction of the materials under high temperature and pressure. Quartz sand and liquid caustic soda are mixed evenly in the batching tank, and then put the materials into the reaction kettle and filled with steam. lt can produce sodium silicate with molar ratio below 2.5.Īccording to customer needs, we can provide consulting, design, supply, installation, debugging and training services for a complete set of wet process sodium silicate production lines with an output of more than 5000 tons/year. The wet process of sodium silicate is a production method in which liquid caustic soda and quartz sand are reacted at high temperature and high pressure to obtain sodium silicate. The third and final Mercury retrograde of this year occurs in Libra from Monday, September 27 to Monday, October 18. The communication planet goes retrograde again in Gemini from Saturday, May 29 to Tuesday, June 22. The first occurs in Aquarius from Saturday, January 30 to Saturday, February 20. There are three Mercury retrogrades to watch out for this year, which affect how we relate to each other. Isolation left many of us lonely and horny, and we may be more vulnerable to opening our hearts back up to past loves.Īll of this is hard work and will require good communication. All we can hope is that those in power are ready to put their egos aside for the sake of the people. While there are myriad implications for this transit, on a large scale, it may signify political progress after the chaos of 2020. Fittingly, this occurs only occurs every 22 and a half years and signifies power struggles between conservative politics and more progressive and modern thinking. While we feel the effects of these transits all year long, the two planets square on Wednesday, February 17, again on Monday, June 14, and finally on Friday, December 24. The most important astrological event of the year is the clashing of innovative Uranus, which is in reliable Taurus, and strict Saturn, which is in eccentric Aquarius. Keep reading to see what's in the stars for 2021, and click on your sign to see how the planets directly affect you. And, as always, eclipses and Mercury retrogrades promise to keep your love life interesting. Lucky Jupiter camps out in progressive Aquarius for most of the year, pointing to opportunities for change. A rare conjunction between Uranus and Saturn will bring people with opposing viewpoints together to talk things out. In 2021, that's a lesson we'll put into place, and there is a lot to be hopeful for. Yes, that's going to take some time, but if 2020 taught us anything, it's how to take care of ourselves and our community. It would be foolish to expect just flipping the calendar would cure COVID-19, end racism, or fix the economy, so it's important to be ready for hard work in the new year. The Configuration of a VGA connector consist of 15 pins:ġ. The standard five-pin row version is DB-15. You're likely to find the D-sub version on older computers, VGA cables, and displays. The version with three hooks is D-subminiature. IBM created two versions of the VGA connector, one with five pins per row and another with three per row. The VGA cable does carry the video signal, and you must convert it to something that your monitor can understand. It does have an analog audio signal left and proper channels, but it needs conversation by a separate cable (usually through 3.5mm jacks). A device sending a digital video signal will send ones and zeros down the wire, resulting in no voltage change.Ī common misconception of VGA is that it carries audio. That is in contrast to digital video interfaces like HDMI. The 15 pin VGA connector is analog-only, which means it can only transmit varying voltages over time. That was not the first analog video interface, but they adopted it widely. IBM Developed VGA to use it with their new line of PCs called PS/2. VGA is an acronym for "Video Graphics Array." There are three rows of five pins for fifteen pins in the physical connector. The first row of pins is for red, green, and blue video data.Īfter reading this blog post, you'll understand more about how the VGA connector works and why it's essential for you. The three rows are the key to understanding what's going on with analog signals. But what are all those pins?Ī VGA connector is a 15-pin D-shaped plug with three rows of five pins. It's also an easy way to get sound from your computer speakers. The VGA connector pinout has been around for many years and is the standard analog computer video output. You didn't do anything wrong, quite the contrary - you followed the rules - but since driving is a privilege it is pretty trivial for the State to take away that privilege, and now it's really become incumbent on the State to prove that it's safe for you to be on the road because now if something does happen someone who gets hurt could say the State knew and didn't do due diligence to prevent you from causing harm.
